Entries with no citation in Hahnemann’s materia medicas

If you have ever perused Hahnemann’s materia medicas (you should!), you will notice that he cites almost every entry back to a primary source. But notice I said ALMOST every entry. So where are those uncited entries coming from? Hahnemann himself. Now if you read a few of the entries, you will realize it doesn’t make sense that he was the prover - because some of the uncited symptoms are menstrual changes or changes in children. So what gives?

Hahnemann was the proving MASTER for the uncited symptoms, not necessarily the person who did the proving of the substance. So he was overseeing many people who were proving the substance, including women and children, and those are where the uncited symptoms come from.

Note that this is true of all the “provers” listed in his materia medicas. They were all proving masters (to my knowledge anyway) who were overseeing multiple people proving the remedy.
